LAST EVKXIXU'S SPORTS MEETING. Tho thitd and last of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club's evening meetings was hold on the Athletic Park lust night, and fiom a racing point of view it was a grout success. Tho ground was in firstclass order. The oflicials were: — Starter, Mr. W. IT. Jones; Jfandieapper, Air. A. M. Stuart; Judges, Messrs. J. Doylo, A. J. Abbott, 11. Goodwin, T. W. Leslie, and Tulbot j Timekeepers, Messrs. W. Russ, A. Luurensou, and H. Robinson. Tho events resulted as follows: — 220 yds Handicap. — First Heat : H. Duwson, 10yds, 1; M. Burnett, 16yds, 2} X, Cardale, 6yds, 3. Woh by about 6yds in 23 3-ssec. Alho started : T. Stu'bbs »cr., W. J. Wallace 13yds, J. S. Juliffe 16vdH, J. L. Robinson 17yds, F. G. Brace 18yds. Second lloat : L. W. Coxens, 22 yds, 1; 11. W. King, 9yds, 2; J. J. Nagle, 12yds, 3. Won by 3yds, also in 23 3-ssoc. Tho other starters were — W. J[. Pollock 2yds, A. C. Kilto 16yds, It. Duff 17yds, R. W. Laughlan 10yds. The finish in tho final heat wus very close, Dtuvpon only breasting tho tnpo about a yard in front of Cozens, Burnett third. Time, 23 l-ssec. The Two-Milo Walk was well worth witnessing. Great interest was takon in tho event, as it was known that F. Ross intended to make nn effort to break tho Ncnr Zoalund record (lßmin 17sec) lield for years past by 11. S. Cocks, of Dunediii. He accomplished the feat. The Btavters were — F. Ross scr., P. Fitzgerald 350 yds, T. K. Meston and M. W. Prendervillo 460 yds, T. Lnmbort. 600 yds, T. Green (550 yds). Ross was in rare form, and walked splendidly, but his handicap proved too great. The event was won by Fitzgerald, who beat Lambert by about 2yds, Ross being third, 30yds behind tho second man. Tho winner's timo was 14min 19spc. Ross covered tho course in 14min 14sec, thus breaking tho New Zealand record, and on leaving tho track he received a great ovation. Long Jump.— E. W. Cardale, handicap lft, 18ft 7in; J. J. Nugle, lift, 18ft lin; W. J. Walhs, lft, 17ft 4inj A. Kvensen, lft, 16ft lOiuj F. G. Brace, lft 3in, 16ft 3in. 11. King,- scr., and W. 11. Brewer, lift, ulso competed. Tho judge declared a lie between Cardale and Naglo, each 19ft 7(n. Putting tho Shot (161b) was won by A. B. Wilson, 13ft 3in. Three Mile- Race. — J. H. Prenderville, scr., 1; W. B. Bonnet t, 170 yds, 2, N. Gordon, 170 yds, 3. Alho competed : W. 11. Pollock *kci\, h. Blundell 90yds, T. Bosher and R. JJvorard 180 yds, A. C. Murray 200 yds, C. G. Montefioro 250 yds. Won bj' about 20yds .in 16min ll^sce, beating tho New Zcahuid standard by Pollock letired after covering a mile. Prendervillo ran in great style, and was loudly cheered on his fine perfonuuiice,
