Mr. George Winder, of Cuba-street, who has just returned from a trip to the Old Country and the Continent of Eurare in company with Mrs. and Miss Wi tier, is • very much impressed with tho business methods of the Germans, particularly in regard to their use ol 13 hour-saving machinery. While in Germany he investigated tho process of manufacturing bricks from lime and sand, of which several buildings in that country have been construct ed.~ The industrial classes are, ho said, contented, but the Germans do not like the preferential tariff, and aro lowering' their prices to those of the colonies which have adopted preferential tariffs. Mr. Winder did not think the Agent-General's office in London was much good to the colony. It appeared to be too far from the centre.
