JUVENLIE OFFENDERS.
SUGGESTED CHILDREN'S POLICE COURT. [BY TELEGRAPH — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, sth December. The need for a Children's Police Court in Auckland was referred to this morning by Mr. F. E. Baume, M.H.R., whose professional duties took him before Mr. H. S. Wardell, S.M. He expressed the opinion that cases in which children were charged should not be heard in open Court, but in a Magistrate's room. His Worship heartily concurred, stating that he wished the suggestion could' be carried out, as there was a disposition to treat such charges with levity. When he endeavoured to speak to young children in a way he could in his own room it raised a titter in the Court, and he felt quite certain that he could do more with them if he spoke, to them privately.
