AT VLADIVOSTOCK.
REPORTED SINKING OF A DESTROYER. (Received December 3, 8.37 a.m.) LONDON, 2nd December. There are 26,000 troops at Vladivostock. It is reported at Shanghai that the guns at Vladivostock sank a Russian destr6yer which was returning after a scouting excursion. DISCOVERY OF SHELLS. LONDON, 2nd December. The railway police at Chingwantao discovered 549 shells for quick-firing guns concealed in a cargo of bags of beans from Sinmingting. Three Chinese who were arrested in connection with the affair confessed that they had tried to convey the shells to Port Arthur. THE BALTIC FLEET. LONDON, Snd December. Several supplementary vessels belonging to the Baltic Fleet have arrived at Tangier. RUSSIAN OFFICERS ENTERTAINED. LONDON, 2nd December. The French naval officers at Brest entertained the officers of the disabled Russian destroyer PronzHelni at luncheon. The hosts wished success to the Russian arms in the present conflict, particularly to General Stoessel, "whose heroic defence of Port Arthur had won the admiration of the civilised world." MOBILISATION IN RUSSIA. RESERVISTS DESERTING. LONDON, 2nd December. St. Petersburg newspapers confess that reservists are deserting in hundreds and thousands.
