OUTRAGE ON MINERS AND PROSPECTORS. AN ENQUIRY COMMENCED. * ' [press association.] CARACAS, 2nd December. A Venezuelan officer and soldiers seized fourteen British gold miners and prospectors who were working considerably within British territory near the newlydemarcated Guiana boundary. A fifteenth miner was killed in attempting to escape. The fourteen men suffered great hardships. They were imprisoned at Santa, Catalina, arid treated* as common felons. General Castro, President of Venezuela, courteously received the Secretary of the Georgetown Institute of Mines, and subsequently ordered the release of the prisoners. Ike British authorities have opened an enquiry. Venezuela, has agreed to the appointment of a joint Commission to ascertain definitely the locality of the outrage.
