A DELAYED SAILING FLEET. BLOCKED AT KAIPARA. Small sailing vessels have not been frequent visitor to Wellington during the past two or three weeks, and the absence was in part explained this morning when five sailers— the schooners Emma Sims, Jessie Niccol, Lily, and the scows Warrior and Surprise— arrived froni Kaipara. Captain Kemp, of the schooner Emuia Sims, was the first of the fleet- to land. For five weeks a south-westerly gale, more or leos blocked the following sailing ships at Kaipara :— Gers, River Hunter, Senorita, Rio, Surprise, Hawk, Eliza Firth, Warrior, Lily, Jessie Niccol, and Eunice. The barque Gers was delayed for about ten weeks before she could get away for the United Kingdom. The Emma Sims left Kaipara last Saturday, and experienced head windt moot of the way down the coast. She has 40,000 ft of timber to land here, and will probably sail for Karamea on completing her discharge. The Surprise, another of the arrivals, left Kaipara on Friday, 29th November, with 64,000 feet of timber. The vessel is on her first visit to Wellington, and is in charge of Captain Fletcher. She is a vessel 96ft long and 23ft beam, and is owned by the Mitohelson Timber Company, of Auckland. The Jessie Nicoll left Kaipara on Saturday morning, and met the same weather as the other vessels. She hns about 70,0C0ft of timber on board. The scow Warrior and the schooner Lily arc in the stream at the time of writing. Captain White, of the Moturoa, has had a brisk day towing the sailers into the wharves. The scow Warrior, from Kaipnra was berthed this afternoon, The vessel left Kaipara last Saturday week with 95,000 ft of timber. The schooner Lily, also from Kaipara, berthed this afternoon to discharge part cargo of timber. The vessel will proceed to Lytteltoh with the balance.
