[PRKSS ASSOCIATION.] HAWERA, This Day. The Methodist District Synod, which is sitting at Hawera, is largely attended by cleigymen in the circuit,, and stewaids of the churches between Palmerston and New Plymouth. So far the business transacted has been principally routine. KAIKOURA, This Day. Yesterday Detective Chrystall anested William Arthur Monk and Tom Nott Monk on a charge oi having forged a will purporting to be signed by Thomas Goodacre, who died last month. The accused weie remanded on bail until Monday. WESTPORT, This Day. There is still ho .clue regarding the whereabouts of the Rev. Mr. Goldsmith. Alfred Crossey, of Hawera, was fined £10 and £2 with £12 costs on tvo charges of obtaining money by means of valueless cheques. The money had subsequently been paid. AUCKLAND, 29th November. A largely-attended public meeting at Grey Lynn to-night passed a resolution asking that Parliament be called together to repeal clause 3 of the Shops and Offices Act. The Act was vigorously denounced by numerous spcakeis, one of whom declared that the test case was "only intended to gain time." A meeting of the Upper Symond-street shopkeepers also passed a resolution strongly opposing certain clauses of the Act. WANGANUI, 23th November. At the Arbitration Court this afternoon Young and Collins, saddlers, were fined £10 for having failed to pay the award rate to an employee. The Borough Council to-night passed the following lesolution :— "That this Council desires to compliment Mr. Mestaver, C.E., on the successful -completion of* the Wanganui waterworks £60,000 scheme, the work being completed within the estimate. ' (
Messrs. Messrs. Pearson ana Co., of Mannersstreet, announce a sale of general drapery at their stores in Manners-stieet tomorrow morniug, when a large wholesale stock of dress and blouse muslins, purchased by them from a warehouseman's stock, will be ittcluded in their other bargains.
