RIFLE SHOOTING.
KARORI RIFLE CLUB v. UPPER HUTT RIFLE CLUB. The match between the Karori Rifle Club and the Upper Hutt Rifle Club, fired at Upper Hutt on Saturday, resulted in a win for Upper Hutt by 2 points, after a very close contest. Details of the Karori team's scores appeared in yesterday's issue, the aggregate being 771. Following nre the details of the scores of the Upper Hutt team (200 yds, 500 yds, and 600 yds, seven shots at each) : —
UPPER HUTI RIFLE CLUB. In addition to its- match with the Karori Club, the l/pper Hutt shootists began competitions for trophies presented by Mrs. Connell (Class B), and Mr. F. Key (Clnss 'A). The shooting was at 200, 500, and 600 yds, seven shots at each. The highest scores are appended :—: —
Giving evidence before the French Naval Commission of Enquiry at Toulon, Admiral Gigon, Maritime Prefect, declared that the state of the navy was satisfactory as regards materiel, but that 33 per cent, of the requisite personnel was lacking.
