ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
[BT TELEGRAPH — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] GISBORNE, This Day. The body of George King, bushfeller, at Papuratu, was brought to town yesterday. Death was caused by a gun going off while the deceased was holding it. by the bairel, the shot passing through his hand and groin. Twelve men carried the body fourteen milea over a bu,sh track. Later. King's correct name is August Volzke, aged 22 years, and a son of a farmer at Midhirst, Taranaki. He and Schnell assumed othen names, because, having a reputation for -wood-chopping in Taianaki, they hoped thus to hide their identity and get matches on with the local bushmen Schnell explains that they trampad fifty miles cattle hunting on Sunday, and being tiivd out on their return, put the gun down loaded. When shifting camp yesterday, Volzke, forgetting it was loaded, handled it carelessly, with the result that he was shot. He died within a minute. ,The men working in the locality, in true bushmen fashion, carried the body out over &ome exceedingly rough country. FEILDING, This Day. A member of the family states that the death of W. Banks, of Kimbolton, was due to the accidental discharge of a gun, and was not a case of suicide.
