ST PATRICK'S COLLEGE SPORTS
YESTERDAY'S GATHERING. The College championship was yesterday afternoon' won by J. Kennedy with an aggregate score of 19 in the'championship events. E. Prendeville came next with 15 points, and W. Quill third with a score of 9 points. The Grand Handicap event, which included 100, 220, and 440 yards races, was won by M. Sheridan and Ron. M'Donald, who each scored 6 points. F. Ryan, J. Kennedy, and F. O'Connell came next with a score of 2 points each. Following were ' the results of the other contests got off after we went to pregs yesterday : — ' 100 yds, for boys under I&.— Final , heat : T. O'Connor, 2yds, 1 ; D. Lundon, 1 8yds, 2 ; E. Casey, 10yds, 3. Time, 11 l-ssec. Won by about two yards. 1 220 yds handicap', for boys under 16. — Final Beat : F. M'Kenna, 15yds, 1 ; T. ■ O'Connor, syds, 2 ; J. Femandos, 9yds, ,3. Time, 26 l-ssec. 1 St. Patrick's College Grand Handicap, 220yds.~F.inal heat: M. Sheridan, 16yds, 1 ; C. H. Seymour, scr, 2 ; Ron. M'Donald, Ilyds', 3. Time, 24 3-ssec. Won by about two yards. 440 yds, for boys under 16.— M. Leary, 30yds, 1; J. Ryan, 15yd«, 2; J. Dignan, 35yds, 3. Time, 60sec. Won by about 12 yards. High Jump. — P. M'Namara, 1 inch, and F. O'Connell, 5 inches, dead heat, sft lin, 1; R. Kerehoma, 2. College' Grand Handicap, 100 yds. — Ron. M'Donald, 6yds, 1; F. Ryan. 3yds, 2; F. O^onnell, syds, 3. Time, 10 l-ssec. Won on the post, about lj yards separating the second and third boys. Sack Race, 75yds.— J. Stewart, 4yds, 1; M. Maher, 6yds, 2; P. Kelly, scr, o. College Grand Handicap, 440 yds. —M. Sheridan, 31yds, 1 ; J. Kennedy, scr, 2; Ron. M'Donald, 21yds, 3. Time, 57 3-ssec. Sheridan went away at the outset, and maintained the lead all through. He was pluckily tackled in the run home by Kennedy, but managed to win with about 3 inches to spare. Medley Race. — W. Sullivan and L. Campion, 4yds, 1 ; P. Kelly and B. Gallagher, 4yds, 2. One Mile Bicycle Handicap.— T. P. Walshe, 80yds behind scratch, 1; T. Kearins, 120 yds, 2; C. Gasquoine, 100yds, 3. W&n easily in 2min 54 3-ssec. One Mile Handicap.— T. Boyce, 160 yds, 1; H. Seymour, 70yds, 2. Time, smin 5 2-ssec. Boyce, the ITniit man, led all the way, and running with good judgment won by about fifteen yards. Consolation Race, 100 yds. — F, O'Connor, scr, 1 ; T. Corcoran, lyd, 2 ; J. Quinn, syds, 3. Old Boys' Race, 100yds.— E.'M'Cardell, 7yds, 1 ; A. Evensen, syds, 2 ; J. O'Connor, 7yds, 3. Time, 10 4-ssec. There were nine competitors, who ran bunched together right up to the tape, which M'Cardell breasted first by a few inched During the afternoon the sports were attended by a number of visitors, amongst whom was Lady Ward. Tea was served in a- marquee on the ground, and the proceedings were enlivened by a programme of band music.
