In the case, the Butchers' Union v. the Aramoho Meat Company, a charge of employing a non-unionist member, the Court held that preference must be given to unionists provided the latter are qualified to perform a particular task. In the cabe under notice the unionist may have been qualified in a general way, but he was not qualified to do the particular work wanted. The case was dismissed.
