TEACHERS PENALISED FOR BAD WEATHER.
i r* TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — Seeing-'what bad weather we are ( experiencing this spring, do you not think we teachers might be warranted in requesting the prayers of the various parsons for fine weather? In consequence of the iniquitous system upon which we are paid a few fine days will cause our hearts to rejoice in increased instead of diminished salaries next year. Personally I stand to lose £15, to say nothing of a pupil-teacher, should the present weather last much longer. It was generally supposed that the Government scale was advantageous to all teachers. But it is somewhat of an Irishman's rise to increase one's £195 to £200, and then take away. £lo for pupil-teacher's instruction —though the instruction is still given.— l am, etc., A TEACHER. 18th November, 1904.
