FROM WELLINGTON TO PICTON. The convenience of Blenheim people h»« not been overlooked in the framing of the daily steamer scivice between Wellington and Picton. The Union Company and the Railway Department liave so arranged matters that there will be prompt train connection between Picton and Blenheim on the arrival of the Wellington boat. Starting from Thursday next the Penguin will leave ' Wellington at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Saturday, and Tuesday, connecting with a train which will leave Picton for Blenheim at 9.30 p.m. The other vessel in the service, the Pateena, will leave Wellington at 2 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, making a connection with a train to leave Picton for Blenheim at 6.15 p.m. The Pateena will make her flrct run under the new arrangement on Friday next. THE PAFAROA. The New Zealand Shipping Company's s.s. Paparoa, which is loading for London, "arrived from Picton this morning in charge of Captain Bowers, chief officer, and was berthed at the Glasgow Wharf. Mr. Vine, chief officer of the Tumkina, is to join the Paparoa as caprain to-day. Mr. Wingate, second officer of the Tuvakina, will take the position of chief in plare of Mr. Vine, and the other officers on the Turakina will be promoted a step. The Paparoa will sail for Auckland about the middle of next week, and will call at Gisborne and Napier before returning to Wellington to sail finally for London. CARGO FROM WELLINGTON. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Tongariiv, which sailed for London at 1 o'clock this morning, took the following items amongst her cargo from Wellington :— 30,9i!5 boxes butter, 3769 bales wool, 2500 carcases mutton, 1160 cases cheese, 604 bales sheepskins, 48 bales leather and basils, 47 biles hemp, 22 sacks grain, 12 sacks grass seed, 15 packages sundries, 20 casks tallow, and 12 bales hops. For -Monte Video— 3B live sheep, and 27 cases jam. The Union Cwnpau/ has been advised that the Mftpourlka got out of Greymouth at 10 o'clock this morning. She is not expected to reach Wellington until Sunday evening. The Union Company's steamer Waikarc, which is to leave Lyttelton for Wellington at 5 o'clock this evening, has 350 tons of cargo to land here She will sail direct for Sydney at 3 o'clock 10-n-.nrrow afternoon, and should arrive at the Isew South Wales port next Wednesday afternoon. The New Zealand and African steamer Ayrshire, which arrived from Liverpool via C'ipetown, Australian ports, and Auckland, yesterday evening, brought the following passengers for Wellington from Capetown :— Mesdames Haaelden, IT. Rix-Trott and family (5), Rix-Trott, sen.. Messr3. T. O. Palgrove, F. H. Hasclden, H. Itix-Trott. The vessel has also 12 passengers on board who booked at Auckland for Capetown. The Union Company's steamers Taieri and Waipori aie expected to load coal at Westport on Monday for Wellington. The former vessel will bring about 2000 tons, and the latter about 2600 tons. The local agents of the Shaw-Savill Company have been advised that the Matatua, from Lr.ndon, arrived at Auckland this morning. The vessel has 3000 tons of cargo to discharge at the Northern port, and 800 tone for Wellington, and she may be looked for here abemt the 4th December. BY TELEGRAPH. DUNEDIN, 25th November. Sailed — Talunc, for Auckland, via Lyttelton, Wellington, nml Kast Coast. Passengers for Wellington -Missos Roney, Fraser, and Roberts, Mrs. l',itc:sin, and Mr. Grigsby. The annual sports in connection with the Girls' High School arc being held in the school grounds this afternoon. Messrs. Sidey, Meech and Co. advertise a salo of household furniture and effects and b, lot of useful goods of all descriptions in their rooms at 1.30 to-morrow. / Mr. S. G. Rosa, jeweller and engraver, Willis-street, has an announcement in this issue. • A "Big Stock Reduction Sale" is advertised by Mr. F. J. Oakes, boot importer, Ingestre-slreet. Messrs. Macdonald, Wilson and Co. will sell to-morrow, at 2 o'clock, at the stables of Mr. P. M'Ardle, Jorvois - quay, 17 draught horses, 10 lip drayß, 2 spring vans, 1/ sets cart harness, etc. As Mr. M'Ardlo has finished his tramway contract work the horses and plant are for absolute salo. Details appear. "Smart men's smart button boots at very special prices" are advertised by Messrs R. Hannah and Co., Cuba-street. To-morrow the sixth Yankee Hustle Sale opens at the American Novelty Stores, and, judging from previous sales, it will command a large share of attention. M f - J°h- E. Lindberg, "the cheap draper, Cuba-street, announces special holiday prices for to-morrow. Messrs. Warnock and Ac'kin advertise a special (-how in their window of trimmed and untrimmed millinery. Mir. H. Fielder, Manners-street, announces through our advertising columns the opening up of new goods in all departments. A few special lines are quoted, and an invitation is extended to the public to pay his showrooms a visit of inspection. Messrs. Stewart Dawson and Co. announce a large assortment of handsome silver-mounted walking sticks at greatly reduced prices. Strap qhoes for ladies' summer wear are now being shown at Pearce's Boot Arcade, 33, Cuba-street. _ The s.s. Duchess will run special excursions to Day's Bay to-morrow morning and afternoon at the usual hours. Full timetable appears in another column. Messrs. Wardell Bros, advertise speciallycured Canterbury hams and bacon. On account of the rush at the Christmas sale at Messrs. Pearson and Co.'s, of Man-ners-street, the firm inform any of their customers *who were disappointed through this that they have engaged extra assistants, so that they will bo served expeditiously during their Christmas sale.
