RUSSIAN FORCE REPULSED. LONDON, 24th November. The Japanese last Monday occupied a Russian bivouac ground north of Hsienchang. Six hundred Russian infantry and thrco hundred cavalry, with four guns, tried to recover the position, out were repulsed. Thirty Russians were killed. The Japanese casualties numbered twenty-nine. REPORTED ENLISTMENT OF CHINESE. (Received November 25, 8.23 a.m.) LONDON, 24th November. Military authorities at Kharbin state that General Okissimo and Colonel Sibate, after distributing hundreds of thousands of copies of a proclamation appealing to tho Chinese to fight for the Japanese, opened a recruiting station at Shailintin. The Chinese at first enlisted at the rate of 7000 a day, but afterwards, owing to a misunderstanding, the number dwindled down to one thousand daily. The recruits, who are called voluntary militia, have, it is stated, been given uniforms and drafted into the Japanese army. JAPANESE HOSPITAL. (Received November 25, 9.20 a.m.) LONDON, 24th November. A base hospital to accommodate ten thousand people has been established by the Japanese at Dalny.
