In the Nelson Magistrate's Court a day or two ago a defendant named Jones was fined in his absence for allowing a horse to stray. Shortly afterwards Jones appeared in Court, and raised the point tha-t the Court had committed a blunder. The clock was ten minutes fast by Wellington Post Office time, and his case had been dealt with before the hour mentioned in the summons — 11 o'clock. The Court considered that there was something in the objection, and decidfed to re-hear the case, as defendant said he had a defence. It is notified that trespassers on the isthmus between Queen's Drive and Miramar will bo prosecuted. This step has been taken by Mr. H. D.
