[press association.] GISBORNE, 24th October. The annual report of 'the Gisborne Sheepfarmers' Frozen Meat Company shows the year's profit to be £7547. A lightering plant had been procured and paid for. A dividend of 5 per cent, and a bonus based upon produce contributed by shar6holderß, are recommended. The sum of £23,680 2s stands to credit of profit and loss account. • The Cook County- Council has resolved to ask the Government to vest Lake Waikaremoana in the Cook and Wairoa Councils, with the object of protecting the water rights for power and. lighting purposes. CHRISTCHURCH, 24th October. Mr. J. K. Logan, Superintendent of Electric Wires, this morning visited the site at Park-terrace, where telegraph poles have been placed contrary to the wishes of residents. Subsequently, he stated that the erection of the poles must be continued, as the terrace is the only practicable course for the lines. If poles were removed to the eastern side of the street, the utility of the service would be impaired, and the footpath would be partly blocked, to the inconvenience of passengers. On learning Mr. Logan's decision, the Mayor arid a number of interested citizens telegraphed to Sir Joseph Ward protesting against the decision to allow poles to remain as at present. Later in the day replies were received from Sir Joseph Ward stating that he had ordered the removal of the poles to the eastern side, as desired by the citizens. Sitting in his civil jurisdiction at "the Magistrate's Court to-day, Dr. A. M'Arthur, S.M., gave judgment for plaintiffs in the following cases: — Raymond White Marshall v. Robert J. Malcolm,- £9, costs 12s; D.I.C. v. Clara Jane Awdry, £50 14s sd, coetfl £3 19s ; Matthew Babich v. Polly Moore, £2 Bs, costs ss ; Isaac Hoare v. Edward Gray, £5 16s 9d, costs £1 9s 6d ; Prouse Bros and Co. v. Arfehur A. Compton, £37 10s 7d, costs £2 14s ; W. M'Gill and Sons v. Good and Walton, £10 13s lOd, costs 15s; William Henry Coy v. Charlotte J. Bain, 12s 3d, costs ss; J. Myers and Co. v. Henry Fonnan Green, £3 14s 9d, costs 10s ; Francis Alexander Reade v. Joseph Vincent, £3 16s lOd, costs sa; Geoige Fisher and Laura Emma< Fisher v. Francis Marion Bates Fisher, £98 0s 7d, costs £4 19a. In the judgment summons case Mary Adelaide Irvine v. Wm. E. Bottle, a debt of £1 14s 2d, no order was made. Edward Baldwin was ordered to pay IV>s& Cole £50 2s Id, in default 14 days' imprisonment. Mr. A. Barron, Chairman of the Government Land Purchase Board, and Mr. J. W. A. Marchant, Surveyor-General, who is also a member of that body, are inspecting estates in the Wairarapa which have been placed under offer to the Governments
