HARDSHIPS OF THE TROOPS. SNOW-BLIND AND FEOST-BITTEN. [PP.ESS ASSOCIATION.] LONDON, 24th October. A hundred and foity members of the military escort which accompanied the British mission to Lhasfca were caught in a blizzard at Romba Pass. They spent an awful night. When Phari was reached, sixty-nine men were snow-blind and twenty-live frost-bitten. The guide lost the way, and Captain Cowie steered the force by the aid of a compass.
