A Tokio telegram, tlated Tuesday^tiie 18th, states that the Russians rallied and enveloped General Yamadi's column on Sunday, capturing fourteen guns. Field-Marshal Oyama reports that General Oko's left wing repulsed six attacks op Sunday. Large Japanese orders for tents and •winter clothes have been placed at Arbroath, Glasgow. PRESSING THE RUSSIANS EASTWARD. (Received October 19, 9.29 a.m.) LONDON, 18th October. The Standard says General Kuroki is pressing the enemy eastward into the mountains. The Russian case is, the General adds, a desperate one. The Japanese captured fourteen guns, and 'are steadily harassing the retreating Russians, General Kuropatkin-was frequently under fire, and on one occasion a shell burst near him. REPORTED ATTACK ON NODZU'S FORCES. • (Received October 19, 9.29 a.m.) . LONDON, 18th October. A Mukden telegram — which, however, is not confirmed — states that General Kuropatkin, with two reserve divisions, drove into General Nodzu's centre on Monday, inflicting a crushing blow and capturing many guns and hundreds of prisoners.
