FOOTBALL.

In the dying hours of the season the football fever invaded the household oi the Empire Hotel, and a match was played yesterday at the Berhampore grounds between the English and Colonial employees of the big establishment. The contestants were cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd, and the Colonials at once started to acora tries with great vigour, not stopping until 35 points had been hoisted on the score board. The Englishmen managed to secure one try — three points. The Federal Football Club met last evening, when it was reported that during the season just" closed the club had won six matches out of eight played, and was only beaten for the premiership by four points. Messrs. Ryan Bros', trophy was handed to Mr. W. G. Herron, Hon. Secretary of the Club, in recognition of his services.
