OTAGO UNIVERSITY.

PROPOSED CHAIR OF PHYSIOLOGY [87. TELEGRAPH — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN, 3rd October. At the University Council to-day a letter from the Premier was received agreeing to place the services of the Agent-General at tho disposal of the Council in connection with applications for the position of Professor of Physiology in the Medical School. Mr. Seddon, however, suggested that in view of the practicability and probability of the inclusion of veterinary work at the University, it should be stipulated that the new Professor should be qualified to teach animal physiology as well as human physiology. This would probably secure a betyer man, and would save the expense of having another Professor if a Veterinary College was incorporated. Professor Scott wrote cordially endorsing the suggestion, and it was decided to forward his letter to the P-remier, with the assurance that the Council would act on the Premier's suggestion. It was resolved that the Minister of Health »nd the members of Parliament representing Otago be asked to endeavour to have provision inserted in the Hospital Bill for the University Council and the teaching staff to have repi^sentation on the Board of Hospital Trustees.
