Tho annual meeting of tho Ohiro District Municipal Klectors' Association whs hold at Brooklyn hi-st night, tho President (Mr. John Brown) /in the chiiir. Tho retiring committee reported tlint although tho year's work had been heavy its efforts had beon rewarded with a fair amount of success, The association held during/ the yeur twenty-eight meetings', four of which, wera members' and fivo public meetings. The membership had been steadily increasing during tho year, «,,<' the association had now sixty-threa members, and the income from members' subscriptions j&nounted to £7 17s 6d. The finance hud been nt all times during tho year equal to undertakings and expenses, and the bulanco of cash in hand at tho end of the yenr was £3 13s 4d. During tho year tho association held prominently boforo the Council, by deputations and correspondence, the important question of tramways to Ohiro and street improvements, as set out in tho agreement entered into when amalgamation took place, until its efforts were finally rewarded by having Uie loans for thoso purposes pub to the voto of the ratepayers, with satisfactory resulta. Tho committee pointed out that the construction of tho tramways was certain to cause a largo increase of population to the Ohiro distriot, which would make a drainage system and water supply urgent necessities Agitation for those services, together with supervising the expenditure of loan monies on roads, etc., wosVork that the next year's committee would be required to undertake. Tho committee also impressed on members the necessity for continued support to tno association for the incoming year. Though the retiring committe had shown good results lor the past; year's work, it felt sure that «till more could be done for the welfare of the district by an energotic committee receiving further support from the residents. > On the motion of Mr. J. MT.aren, seconded by Mr. J. VV. Churchill, the report and balance-sheet were adopted. Oflicors for the year were elected as follows: — President, Mr. John Brown (reelected) j Vice-President, Mr. J. Barm ; Hon. Secretary und Treasurer, ' Mr. W. Lange ; Committee, Messis. j. Short, J. \V. Churchill, C. Pierce, W J. Parsons, J. Howie? W. Hendricksen, J. M'Laren, J. E. Hodson, and VV. D. Janes. Some discussion togk place regarding the proposal of the Public Works Committee of tho City Council that instead of widening Ohiro-road a new road should be formed alongside tho tram route to Brooklyn. Councillor Frost having explained the position. It was decided, on tho motion of Mr. W. D. Janes, seconded by Mr. W. J. Parsons, that the Secretary shoutd write to the Council disagreeing with any proposal but the one, for widening Ohiro-road. The meeting also resolved to urge the Council to lay off a right-of-way between Adams and Harrison streets. A vote of thanks was passed to last year's officebearers.
