A BROKEN ENGAGEMENT.
SENSATION IN LONDON SOCIETY CIRCLES. [VRKSS ASSOCIATION.] (Received September 13, 10.22 a.m.) LONDON, 12th September. The marriage of Miss Constance, daughter of Sir James Thomson Rilchio, Lord Mayor of London, to Mr. J. A. M'Calmnn, of tho Egyptian irrigation sorvjee, was fixed to jUiJ^o place to-day. Three hundred presents wero exhibited on Saturday, and Mr. M'Calman -was expected at the Mansion House at lunch and dinner. He, however, did not put in an appearance, bub sent a letter in tho evening 4>re'aking off tho engagement. No explanation wnfi made, and the mati-er came .as a cruel surprise, as there had been no quarrel. Mr. M'Calman has gone on tho Continent.
