Thoy drifted about for eight days, suffering great hardships owing to shortness of food and wator, and woro ovontually picked up by tho 6teatner Antoino, which previously took tho captain's party oft tho island. Aftor leaving the island whore tho captain's party landed, tho mate's boat returned to tho wreckod West Australian, and remained thoro three days, when food and water wore oxhaustcd. In tho face of tho stormy weather and a rough soa tho boat reached an uninhabited island, and obtained a' supply of coconuts and shell fish. Subsequently thoy landed at two otlior' islands, and got a littlo wator, which was supplemented by rain. Tho boat was shaping its course- for Nouinoa when it was rescued.
