ALLEGED DUMMYISM.
AN ENQUIRY AT AUCKLAND. [BY TELEORAPn— FRESB ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, This Day. _ A case of alleged dummyinm in connection with the r<*ent Crown hinds ballot for l«nd in tho Tokatoka Survey District was brought under the notice of the Crown Lmids Board by the Commissioner, Mr. M'Kenzic, who stated that C. H. S. M'Kinnoy had applied for. 620 acres of fokatoka laud and scoured 96 acres nt the ballot, though ho already held 640 acres of first-class lnnd. under tke occupation with fright of purchase system. Mr M'Kihney appeared before tho Board and admitted the facts awtcd. When ho applied for the Tokatoka land ho had overlooked the fact that he hold land uuder * previous ballot. In the Tokatoka ballot he acted for a friend whom he. named, and to whom ho intended transferring his holding if successful. He had no intention of doing Atiythiug wrong. Hundreds had, he said, placed themselves in a similar position. The Board resolved that tho Tokatoka section in question, and all money paid on' it, be forfeited ; and that the facts be laid beforo the Minister of Lands. The Commissioner said he fell quite sure *t the time of the Tokatoka ballot that a lot of speculation was going on.
