Hvidenco given yesterday afternoon at an inquest hold by Mr. James A.slicroft, concerning the death of a female patient who was found ch'iid with her head in !i wetter .sink .it the Porirua As^'lum on 'J'ue.sday evening, led to Ihe jury returning a verdict of Kificitlo by hUlYocatiou. It was .slmwn that wa.s adinilted to the institution la»t January, suilcriug from acute melancholia. Khe was considered (riihtwoithy, nud wii.i allowed to work about the kitchen. Ou Tuesday night whe w\w left alone whilst the other patients were marched (o the dining-room for tea — this consideration having been extended towards her because she had scalded one of her feot. Half an hour afterwards ft nurse fund her in tho sink with a hundkerchief round her mouth and tho water turned on. Life by this time was extinct. I At tho inquest this afternoon on tho body of William. M'Kcnzic, found in tho harbour to-day, a verdict of fonnti~ur'owned was returned. Deceased was lust seen alive about a foitnight ago.
