LAWN TENNIS.

Mr. A. Young presided over last night's meeting of tho General Committee of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association. Tito Selection Committee appointed to select the Now Zealand- team for, the inter-State match at Sydney in September presented its report slating that the following team had been selected: — Singles: H. A. Parkor J. C. Peacock, C. <$• Oox, and F. Luishley. Double* : H. A. Parker and J. C. Peacock, C. C. Cox and F. Laishloy. Emergencies : R. N. K. Swanslon and F. M. B. Fisher, lt further recommended that Mr. H. A. Parker should bo captain mid that the team should be increased to six, and that tho doubles in that case should be: (1) H. A. Parker and J. C. Peacock ; (2) 0. C. Cox and R. N . K. Swanstou ; (3) F. M. B. Fisher and F. Lawhley. Tho report was adopted, and consideration of a suggestion that a conference should bu hold with llio Association in Sydney with a viow to sending a team Home vos postponed till next meeting. The Otago Lawn Teunis Association wrote with reference to the recent tournament at Oniram that it had granted permission hurriedly, overlooking rule 25 of tho New Zealand rules. Tho reply from tho Outnnru Club was enclosed, and it was therein stated that the club did not know which cliibs were affiliated. The Canterbury Association stated tliat tho two members who had taken part in an unauthorised tournament had been unaware until near tho end of the tourney that tho meeting was not authorised. A resolution was enclosed calling' tho attention of the Oamaru Club to tho matter, and of the QUigo Assooiation to its action in permitting an affiliated club to circulate an unauthorised programme. Tho variotis explanations were accepted' as satisfactory. Mr. Freeman, delegate for Canterbury, gave notice to movo the following resolutions: — "That all officers of tho New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association be allowed to vote by proxy nt all meetings of tho Association." "That any programme issued by any affiliated Asaociotkm for the holding of any meeting subject to tho control of the Now Zealand Association not bearing the words 'Authorised by tho New Zealand Association" bo deemed to be unauthorised. Players taking part in such tournament do 10 at their own rink." Reference \vm made to the fact that some of the affiliated association*, notably Auckland, Marlborougk, Hawkes Bay, Nelson, and Taranaki, hud been very remiss in answering tho communications of tho secretary of the Now Zealand Association, and it was decided to tnke steps to convince those associations of the necessity, in the interests of the gamo in those centres, of replying promptly to tho New Zealand Association's letters.
