AN AUDIT DIFFICULTY. [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.]
HOKI'HKA, This Day. The Westland Education Board last evening considered correspondence from tho Audit Office on tho subject of Hie form of compilation of the annual bal-ance-sheot. The Board had followed the form laid down by the Education Department for many years, and the Audit Inspector had initialled the same an correct. TKe Auditor-General, however, wrote stating that the form was wrong, and suggested tliat several of the separate account** were incorrect, asking tliat a revised statement prepared by the Department be signod by the Board's officers as correct. The latter, however, took exception to the audit figures. Tt was resolved to decline to accede to the Auditors request to make any alteration in the balance-sheet, and enlled upon the Auditor-Oenernl to withdraw tho charges against the Board regarding the separate account*.
