' Resolutions woie passed that a local option poll should not be void unless it is proved tlurt the result does not express the will of tho eluotors, and that a new poll should ht token where a former poll is declared void ; that ofticors committing or permitting a breach of the law in tho conduct of polls should be made directly responsible and* subject to a substantial penalty ; und that provision be made for a competent Court to hear petitions. ' The Convention pledged itself to oppose.' candidates for Parliament not subscribiug to the above. Resolutions were also passed urging that Maoris bo given a free hand to stamp out grog-selling in native districts, and that the powers of Maori Councils bo extended in this direction.
