FOOTBALL.
WELLINGTON REFEREES' AS6OCIATION. The Wellington Referees' Association's weekly meeting last night was presided over by Mr. A. Campbell. It was decided to luk the Rugby Union to have the ground lines at New town Park marked out in whitewash, and also to draw tho attention of the union to the lack of accommodation for footballers at Mirnmar. It was resolved that in tho event of n. team being nimble or unwilling to commence piny within a quarter of an hour of Ihe regulation time the referee *hall award n. win to tho opposing team. Mejssrs. J .Condor and B. Gallagher were elected members of the association. It waa stated that Messrs. F. Martin, J, BrodiOi Mansill, and Hutohings had passed their examination in theory. Mr. J. M. Robb wns elected Secretary of tho association. The Classification Committee was instructed tg approach the Rugby Union with a. request for the reasons that guided it in imposing only two weeks' disqualification on two plajers who wore recently reported by a referee for rough p'.ay. Mr. G. Howo wa» appointod to bo referee in the Southern v. Marton match, to be played on tho A(uletio Park at 1.30 p.m. on Friday next, previous to the Wairarapa v. Wellington fixture.
