FOOTBALL.
A meeting of tho Management Committee of the New Zealand Kugby Union was bold last evening, Mr. (i. Dixon prosidis}. I'ie.sent: Messrs. O. Fuchc, W. Coftty, It. D. I&uacs, D. D. VVoir, N. Cialbrailli (honorary ; treasurer), and A. C. Norris (honorary secretary). The questions of lours from New Zealand to the United Kingdom, and from tho United Kingdom to the colonies, were discussed. With regard to tho English Rugby Union's suggestion for tho postponement of tho New Zealand team's jour Home, it was resolved that no action be taken until receipt of the Agent-General's cbvcring letter, which is expected by next San Francisco mail. Mr. X D. llobcn, Sydney, notified that nothing definite had been received from Eugluud regarding a- visit to Australia of an English representative team. Mr. llobpn further said that he Mould keep in touch with the Now South Wales authorities und advise the Now Zealand Rugby Union of any des'clopments. Tho &eciftury reported that he had written to the English authorities asking that tiny overscn teum touring under tho auspices of the •English Rugby Union should include a visit to this colony in it» itinerary. In the Wttngtinui-Mnnawatu rep. match in Palmaraton North last season, the referee ordered oft" tho field one Mannwatu und two Wan^njiui players. Tho Wangnnui Union subsequently held an enquiry, admitting outside ovidence, and exonerated its players. This matter was discussed by the committee ln««t evening, and it was resolved : " That under present bylaws of the union, it hm no power to take any action, but ns, under the rules of the game, a reforeo is mtido sole judge of fact, thiH committee is of opinion that the ovidence for the purpoxo of disprovinp the referee's decision on a point of fact, nhould not bo admitted to any enquiry of (his description. This being tho case, this committee is further of opinion that the Wnnganui Union won in error in pnssinjf a resolution exonerating the players." Consideration of tho new bylaws, drafted by a special committee, was deferred till next meeting.
