He stated that tho Department? had lost £50 in rogard to cattle condemned in^ Christchuroh and district. Ho intends giving instructions that owners of condemned catllo bo supplied with tho weights of beasts destroyed and with tho amount received for the "carcases. Ho -was of opinion that in addition to the compensation allowed under tho Act owners should receive half of the price got by the Department for the carcases. Tho Minister stutcd to a press representative that the Department intended to obtain tho services of more veterinarians as required, but nobbing dofinito had been decided upon as to tho number to bo engaged.
