Mr. Roberts, tlio nowly-clected Labour member for Richmond in the Victorian Parliament, has made a serious charge of bribery and corruption against the police, He stated .that in a caso of extensive jewellery robbery the goods stolen could bo recovered if the detectives were paid 20 per cent, of their value. Mr. Wilkins, another member, said a police officer iv Sydney and ono in Melbourne divided £300 to ensure that tho case of an absconder should not get into tho Courts. Tho Premier has promised that if tho facts are given to the Chief Secretary an enquiry will bo hold.
