ENERGY OF THE FRENCH SETTLERS. [PIIKfIS ASSOCIATION.! SYDNEY, 23rd December. Captain E. G. Rason, British Commissioner in tho New Hob'rides, strongly contrasts the generous monetary assistance given by France to French settlors with the way British enterprise is hampered. The French aro making fine \use of the high subsidies. The French New Hebrides Company, Captain Rason states, is being reconstructed, and is to receive £16,000 annually from the Government. Captnin Rason looks forward to increased activity on the -part of tho French in future.
