At the fortnightly meeting of the Coronation Lodge, U.A.0.D., held last night in St .Thomas's Schoolroom, Newtown, Bro. T. J. Carter A.D., presiding, Bro. Over £100 has been subscribed for this object. At, the meeting of the Taranaki Provincial Executive of the Farmers' Union in Hawera it was decided that in view of the favourable reception given to the proposal by tho branches, steps be taken to secure the services of a qualified veterinary surgeon, and that one-third of the cost of organiser and veterinary surgeon be paid out of the general levy of the branches, the balance lo be paid by ihe guarantors on the ba^is of ss" for holders of property up to the value of £1000, 10s up to tho value of £2000, and 15s up to the value of £3000 ; only guarantors to receive the benefit of the services of the vet,.
