MR. CHAMBERLAIN ASKED TO VISIT IRELAND. IrRHSS ASSOCIATION.! (Received September 2, 7.8 a.m.) • LONDON, Ist September. In response to a proposal that he should visit Ireland, Mr. Chamberlain has written stating that it is impossible for him to make the viwt during the present year, as already he has made as many appointments as his strength will permit him to fulfil. [Mr. Chamberlain has, according to late English papers, entered into engagements extending from the beginning of October to January. He will be assisted in the campaign. The various freetrade and anti-freetrade organisations are busy preparing for the fray, and speakers have been enlisted for what a leading London journal says "must prove one of the keenest political campaigns ever conducted in England." Many eminent opponents of Mr. Chamberlain's policy will follow hard at nis heels in the various constituencies in which he will speak? Among the speakers who have placed their services at the disposal of the Free Food League during the autumn are Sir John Gorst, Lord Lytton, Lord Hugh Cecil, and Mr. Winston Churchill. Lord James of Hereford is also expected to address several meetings, and there is a probability of Lord Hugh Cecil and Mr. Ohurchill carrying the war into the enemy's camp by jointly addressing a meeting at Birming-ham in November.]
