PETONE ROWING CLUB.
The second annual meeting" of tbe Petone Rowing Club was held las* evening, Mr. W. J. Williams, president of the club, in the chair. There was a large attendance of members. The Chairman congratulated the club on ite position and progress ; not only from a racing point of view, but as being in possession of a very complete little plant. Their coach (Mr. Bishop) had expiessed his satisfaction with the-phy-sique of members, and 1 thought that the club could put as good a crew in a boat as any club in the colony. The report stated that the roll shows forty-eight active and twenty-five hon. members, an increase of nine upon last year's membership. Considerable improvements had been effected to the boathouse, including a committee room, dressing room, and shower bath. During the year the plant was increased by the purchase of one maiden four, two practice fours, and two convertible double scullers ; also four sets of oars and sculls, the whole of the plant being in first-class repair. During the season, the club competed in junior pair races, securing a first at Lyttelton and a second at Wanganui. The thanks of the club were due to the many donors of trophies and those members who had . devoted much time and labour in furthering the club's interest. In view of payments to be made during tbe coming year the committee recommended caution in expenditure, and in dealing with outstanding subscriptions recommended that no unfinancial member be allowed to partake of the club's privileges. The balancesheet showed receipts £139 14s 7d, the expenditure leaving a credit balance of £2 8s 4d. Tbe value of assets over liabilities was £130 19s 4d. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The minimum age qualifying for membei&hip was fixed at sixteen years, and the subscription for youths up to eighteen years of age was fixed at 15s per year, with an entrance fee of ss. The following were elected officers for the ensuing term : Patron, Mr. T. Price ; President, Mr. W. J. William 3; VicePresidents, Messrs. Pirani, London, Mothes, Proctor, and Cotton ; Committee, Messrs. B. Bowman, Nuttall, Ashcroft, Keetley, Simpson, Bowen, and J. H. Williams ; Captain, Mi\ A. Anderson (re-elected) ; Vice-Captain, Mr. R. Moore ; Secretary, Mr. F. J. M'Lean ; Treasurer, Mr. F. W. Inckerman ; Auditors, Messrs. Priest and Hinchcliffe; Selection Committee, the Captain, Messrs Simpson and Keetley ; Delegates to "Wellington Rowing Association, Messrs. McLean, Bowen, and Anderson. Considerable discussion ensued on a motion to increase the plant, the committee ultimately being instructed to procure a convertible double sculler, and a 14ft or 15ft pleasure boat. Trophies were promised for the ensuing season by Mr. Lewis {Messrs. Thomson and Lewis), the president and secretary. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Alex. Home, the retiring secretary, and the customary vote to the chair concluded the meeting.
