A Parliamentary Blue Book which has been published shows that the Marquis of Lansdowne (Foreign Secretary) did his utmost in the interests of the Paesionist and Benedictine Orders in France in connection with ,the disabilities they were suffering under the Religious Associations Act, but finally informed Abba Gasguetthat, inasmuch as they were situated m France, they were governed by French law. Lord Lansdowne refused to advance a claim on behalf of the Orders for compensation.
