• .- THE WILLIAMSON COMEDY CO. Laughter prevailed at tlie Opera House last night, as ar accomj laniment by a large audience to the Will iamson Comedy Company's working out of the farcical problem, "Are You a Mason?" The complications of the secottd act made the fun uproarious, and onlookers fairly shrieked with laughter. 24r. George Giddens, as representing the head and. front of the party of deeervers, played delightful comedy, and tie was ably supported by Miss Eileen Munro, Messrs. CecU Ward, George Desmond, Lawrence Hanray, and other members of a compact and clever combinaiao'n. The dressing of the ladies was a. featifte of the production. The music provided by an excellent orchestra included a new waltz, "The Jolly Fellows," whi/jh won special applause. " Are You a, Mason?" which can be strongly commended as a tonic for driving^ away dull caire and as providing a lively two and' a half hours' entertainment, . is to be repeated this evening and until further notice. FULLER'S ENTERTAINERS. The excellence of the entertainment given nightly in the Choral Hall continues. Last night the Phillip Sisters made their re-appearance, and were well received. A special performance is announced for to-morrow afternoon. HILL AND SILVAINY. The first appearance of Hill and Silvainey is the big event of to-night at the Theatre Royal. • Tiese performers have a very high reputation and give a most, daring exhibition of almost incredible feats on a bicycle . The booking has been very good, and the new artists are assured of a warm reception. They will be supported by the full strength of Mr, Dixs company. The Black Family of vocalists and instrumentalists, who have just concluded a successful tour throughout the whole of the South Island, commence their season here to-morrow night in the Exchange Hall. Musical families are not rare, but a family whose individual and collective skill equals that said to be displayed by the Black Family is seldom met with. The family consists of six members, who show great versatility .in the musical line. The programme they give includes something to suit every taste. The annual ball of the Post and Telegraph Rifle Volunteers was held in the Sydney-street* schoolroom .last night and proved a great success. The ball-room was artistically / decorated. The committee of management consisted of Captain Morris, Lieutenants Harton, and Esson, Quartermaster-Sergeants Carmine, Col-our-Sergeant Roache, Sergeants Chegwidden and Combs, Corporals Hull (hon. secretary), Collins, and Parker, Lance-Corporals' Gamble and Harris, Privates Alexander, Beasley, and Clinkard. Lieutenant Harton. and Colour-Sergeant Roache acted as directors of ceremonies. The music was supplied by Minifies band, and the catering arrangements were in the hands of Mr. Mawson. A concert, in aid of the Kaiwarra School funds, was given in the Kaiwarra Hall last evening, and despite the inclemency of the weather, was well attended. A programme, which, was well received, was contributed to by the following: — Musses Winifred Birch, M. Wiffin, and E. Bowden, and Messrs. A. Yeatts, J. Barlow, A. W. Newton, J. Cameron, J. Flaws, P. Powell, and G. Flaws. A dialogue by a number of juveniles was a feature of the programme, as was also a dialogue in which the characters were taken by Mies Sinclair, and Messrs. G. Flaws, P." Powell, A. W. C. Palmer, and R. E. Flaws. Mr. J. Thompson filled the position of Chairman and accompaniments were played by Misses Roberts and Birch and Mrs. D. D. Cameron.
