FOOTBALL.
The Wellington Referees' Association last night discussed the "bustling" tactics of wing-forwards, and some referees expressed themselves that too much leniency was shown in respect of this offence. The opinion of the meeting was that the wings needed to be closely watched, but that the special conditions of each case required to be considered in each instance. Mr. G. C. Fache, the Wellington Rugby Union's selector, has picked the following teams for next Saturday's matches : — Against - Wairarapa (at Carterton) — Pull-back, Wrigley ; three-quarters, Wiluon, M'lntyre, Slafctery ; five-eighths, G. Gray and! Johnston ; half, F. Roberts ; forwards, Dodd, Driscoll, Cross, Joyce, Watkins, Calnan, M'Anally, and Hardham (captain). Against Horowhenua (at Levin) — Fullback, G. Spencer ; three-quarters, Cleland, Barber, and E. Claridge ; five- % eighths, Bush „ and W. Roberts ; half, Heberley ; forwards, E. Wylie (captain), King, Best, Bayfield, Cody, Sw y, De Blois, and Selwood. Emeigencies — A team : Spencer, Bush, W. Roberts, and King. B team : E. Hales, Goodwin, «P. P. Blacklock, M'Rae; Abriin, Osborne, Bennett, and GardineE' " A gymnasium will be secured for pra%' tice on Wednesday night if possible, and notification of the place will be published. Any of the above men who cannot travel with the team in which they are selected are requested to notify the Secretary of the union at once. Horowhenua will be represented by-Full-back, Roydhouse ; three-quarters, Tahuri, Winiata (captain), Whareao ; five-eighths, Wallace, Hitchings ; half, R.
