WOOL SALES.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., reports on yesterday's wool Hales as follows: — At the socond sale of tho season tho various brokers offered catalogues totalling about 2000 bales, of which our quota, was about 730 balo3. Tho attendance of local and Homo . buyers was good and competition waa keen for all good lots. The bulk of Uie wool offered by us was of exceptionally i good quality, bright, clean, and well grown, and for the Linrtnlo clip of Romney grown, . by llr. H. S. Hac'field, of Otaihanga, we' J obtaiusd from 6i|d to 'lid per lb, and for tho pieces and bollio3 of same clip from ' 3d to 44d. Wo quote: — Merino, medium, to 7Jd; fin© Romuoy, 6gd to 7id; finecrossbred, 6d to 6id ; medium crossbred, 5d to s?d ; ccarso crossbred, 4d to 4|d ; inferior and lo^stained, 3id to 4cl ; pieces J and bellies, 2£d to Hd ; and ' locks, l£d 3 to 2d. < Messrs. Murray, Roberts and Co. report: — Our catalogue comprised 600 bales, of which tho bulk v/a3 sold under the / hummer. Prices for all clas-es ruled firm at an average advance of aboxit a farthing per lb on November sale. There was a good attendance of buyers, but the bidding was somewhat variable, at times being very animated, f. Good bright wools . wero p.trongly competed for, while inferior lots wero not in such good demand. Wo quote as under : — Half bred and merino 7JUI to Od per lb; fine, bright crossbred, ! sid to 6id per lb; medium crossbred and , Romney, 4-^1 to sid perlb; coarse crossbred and Lincoln, Hd to sid per lb ; pieces, bellies, etc., 2Jd to 4d per lb: locks, lid to 2,Jd per lb.
