METHODIST SYNOD.

The annual session of the Wellington District Methodist Synod opened in ministerial session in Taranaki-street Schoolroom this morning at 10 o'clock. There were present: Revs. D. J. Murray (Prendent of the Conference, in the chair), W. C. Oliver, ~G. Bone, W. B. Marten, H. B. Redstone, C. E. Beecroft, G. Hounsell, J. J. Pendray, B. F. Rothwell, W. Wrigley, W. J. Elliott, J. Worboys, S. H. D. Peryman, G. S. Cooke, S. Barnett, C. E. Godbeherc, A. N. Scotter, and W R. Tuck. After opening exercises, Rev. W. B. Marten was elected Secretary, Revs. Peryman and Barnett, assistant and journal secretaries respectively. On the motion of the President, seconded by Rev. W. C. Oliver, and supported by Rev. C. E. Beecroft, a vote was passed expressing the deep sympathy of the Synod with Rev. G. Bond in his recent bereavement. A sympathetic vote was also passed to be forwarded to Rev. J. Berry, who, the Synod regretted to hoar, •was suffering from acute illness. A dispensation was granted to Rev. W. Kirk, and a.' letter of sympathy with him was ordered to be sent, the increasing infirmities of age preventing his attendance. A dispensation of absence was also granted to Roy. W. S. Eowie for one day. A committee was appointed to examine the circuit schedules and report to the Byjiod. v The quest-ion of ministerial character was then taken, and ths answers in each case were satisfactory. Rev. W. C. Oliver, on behalf of the Synod, irekonied the President to ihe district. The Chairman welcomed the Revs Worboys, Barnett, Tuck, Godbehere, and J. Oliver, who took their seats in the Synod for the first time. Revs. Rothwell and Wrigley were appointed reporters to the daily papers and Advocate.
