THE WEATHER.
Last night there was quite a tropical downpour in Wellington, the fall registering nearly three quarters of an inch. Some showers also occured early this morning, and the Aveather soon afterwards cleared. Bad weather has also been experienced in most parts of New Zealand during the past twenty-four hours. During the heavy weather early on Saturday some of the seawall of the Te Aro Baths was carried away, and damage was also done to some of the remaining portion. The heavy rain of the past few days caused a landslip on the Manawatu railway a little north of Paikakariki during last night. The result Avas that the early morning north mail train was not despatched, but arrangements for transhipment were made as expeditiously as possible, and passengers by the later trains during the day were able to cross the obstruction, which it is hoped Avill he cleared away in a day or two.
