THE HOHOURA SURVIVORS AT AUCKLAND.
AUCKLAND, This Day. The steamer Clansman has arrived from 3ohour» with fifty-two survivors of the wreck. She called at Mouturoa Island, off Cape Karaka, also at the Cavalli [slands and Poor Knights, Captain Farijuhar being of opinion that the missing boat had possibly fetched up there, or that wreckage had been deposited by the current, which set in south from North Cape. - The steamer sent a- boat ashore, closely skirted the island, and searched the beach with glasses, but saw nothing. The Clansman steamed slowly past Cavalli Islands, blowing its whistle, but there was no sign of people or wreckage. The Poor Knights were reached after dark. A boat's crew searched for an hour and fl. half, rockets were fired, and the whistle •Wown, but there was no response. The opinion is pretty unanimous that the occupants of the missing boat and raft perished, most probably on the day the wreck occurred.
