The Ratepayers nnd Householders' Association, at a meeting hint night, passed a resolution opposing further borrowing in connection with the proposed heavy expenditure, on the local gasworks until the services of an expert £as manager had been obtained by the Borough Council. The Council's action in taking over and constructing roads through private property was approved by the association. Wood and Son's new sii'e-ynids at Alfredton nre well on to completion. Building operations in that district are faitly alive just at present.
