(Received September 18, 10.47 a,m.) BRISBANE, This Day. The Miowera, from, Vancouver, arrived Bale last night.' Despite the late hour of the vessel's arrival, Madame Melba was enthusiastically welcomed by a large number of people, including the Mayor and Mayoress of Brisbane. The latter presented tho gifted singer with a beautiful bouquet. Madame- Melba- is in splendid health, end she greatly enjoyed aud benefited by iho rest on the voyage. She told her interviewers — "Everybody said I was never in such fine voice as this year in London. I do hope it will be the .same ihere." She was enthusiastic at revisiting Australia, and declared that when Hhe first saw land in the distance she Lowed three times 'to it ior luck. Asked why she made the visit, Madame iMelba said — "I Mas determined to come nnd see my father." She stated that she did not know what she would sing in Australia. — nothing was yet settled, not oven the first .programme. She did not ■•know whether she would sing in opera, ■"but would just loye to." Other members of Madame Melba's party are Signoro. Sossoli, harpist, Mr. Fred arifflths,'"flatktiSt; 'aild Miss Davies, pianist. Madame Melba will go to Sydney torfay, and proceed to Melbourne on Friiday.
