WELLINGTON POULTRY SOCIETY.
The twentieth annual meeting of the Wellington Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Society was hold lost evening, Mr. G. Frost occupying the chair. There was a very large attendance, and forty new members were -elected. The annual report congratulates members on the result of the lost show,, which was a success both financially and otherwise. It is pointed out that the year was commenced with an .overdraft of £123 13s 7d, which has been considerably reduced and now stands at £71 12s lOd. Deducting from this amount the outstanding accounts, which are all good (£lB this leaves the society with an indebtedness to the bank of £63 Oa lOd, which, taking into consideration the fact that tho committee was called upon to settle liabilities in .connection with the 1901 show, is considered highly satisfactory. The thanks of the society ore due to Messrs. Towisend and Bristow for the valuable assistance given tho society during the ret year, also to Miss Ivey, Messrs. J. Casey, G. Remington, W. Bailey, F. Cooper, F. Bradley, B. Blowers, J. B. Tonar, and A. Walker, for their gratuitous services as judges ; and to donors of cash and trophies, also the gentlemen who gave manual assistance in putting up the plant, and to the energetic secretary, Mr. H. E. Dovey. The Chairman, in putting the report and balance-sheet beloro the meeting, congratulated the society on the progress made during the past year and made special reference to tho fact that not one bird hod beon lost or stolen at the recently held Bhow. The report and balance-sheet wore adopted without discussion.
The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted «s follows : — Patron, His Excellency the Governor (re-elected) ; President, Mr. J. G. W. Aitken (Mayor of Wellington, re-elected) j Vice-Presi-dents, the members of Parliament for the City and Suburbs and the Mayors of the suburban boroughs ; auditor, Mr. H. Kembet* (re-elected) ; Messrs. G. B. Bristow and P. Townsend were re-eleot-ed Trustees, amidst applause ; Secretary, Mr. H. E. Dovey (re-elected) ; Treasurer, Mr. E. B. Bristow (re-elected) ; Management Commuted, Messrs. D. Murphy, P. Cooper, J. E; Thompson, E. J. Fuller, J. Currie, W. B. M'Kenzic, G. E. Fearne, F. Bradley, F. Townsond, G. Frost, T. M'Lauch'lin, P. Doig.
It was decided to leave the matter of affiliation with the North Island Association in the hands of tho incoming committee, which ia to report to a general meeting. Notice of motion was givon — " That the incoming committee consider the ndvisableneis of opening the show at 7 p.m., instead of in the afternoon as at present,
The meeting terminated 'with a vote of thanks to the Chairman.
