THE IMPORTATION OF FODDER.
PROPOSAL BY THE NEW SOUTH WALES PREMIER.
(Received August 23, 10.15 a.m.)
SYDNEY, This Day. The Federal Government having refused to suspend the fodder duties, and the other State Premiers not being favourable to their suspension, the Premier (Sir John See) states that he is opposed to the New South Wales Government accepting the responsibility. He, however, offers his serviced as head of^ the Government, and an experienced commercial man, to the pastoralists, and will purchase for them in the best markets, and charter steamers for tho carriage of all fodder required, without charging any commission. The State's offer means that sfockown ers will get fodder practically at cost price. It is estimated that at least £100,000 worth oi fodder will be required weekly. The movement in favour of suspension of the duties or a concession to assist the importation of fodder, is again being vigorously reflewed in all parts of the -State. , •
