As the North ©.vpresa was leaving this morning, Edward Robinson, of Auckland, and i'rederick Lund, ot Tinmru, both returned troopers, were arrested o» a charge, of stealing from a Crimean veteran u^majl John. Mitchell, of Palmerston South, two war medals, a silver watch, and 20» in silver. Mitchell had corae to town to celebrate the Coronation, and fell jn with the accused. At ft meeting of the Dunedin Savings Bank Trustees held to-day the following resolution was, passed: — "That the Dunedin Savings Bank, having by the investment of iiil deposits realised profits in excess of 10 per cent, on the aggregate amount' of its deposits, the trustees of tbo said bank declare that the sum of £6500 shall bo paid over to tho University of Ofago, to bo dealt with by the said university in accordance with the provisions of the said Act." The foregoing resolution is subject to the approval of the GovernorMn-Council and to necessary legislation being obtained at the instance of tho University of Olago extending the interpretation of "an institution" under tho Savings Bank Profit* Act, 1878, so that it shall embrace the university. Upon the University of Otapo applying for such legislation the trustees will give it assistance. The resolution Mas carried on the casting vote of tho Chairman against an amendment.
