ANTARCTIC EXPLORATION.

fBT TKI.WJRAI'H — VKKSR ASSOCIATION.! CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The Hon. Mr. Bowen, M.L.C., has received further news of the Antarctic relief ship Morning. She will call at Madeiro, and will sail thence direct for Lyttelton, at which port she is expected to \ arrive in November. The instructions to Captain Colbeck are that after refitting and filling up with coals and provisions at Lyttelton, he is to sail for the ice in December, proceed at once to Cape Adore, and search for records at various places. If the Discovery is found, Captain Colbeck will assißt'to extricate her from her winter quarters, and then proceed as directed by Captain Scott. ■ If the Discovery is not Trintcring on the east coast of Victoria Land, Captain Colbeck is- to proceed eastward along the ice barriers to tho place where he landed in February, 1900. It was the intention of Captain' Scott to leave a record here on the ice if possible. Should no sign of the Discovery be found in any part of the east coast of Victoria Land, C'pfain Colbeck will probably conclude thnt she has succeeded in penetrating the unknown regions to the eastward of 164 West Meridian. In that case the relief ship will not follow the Discovery. Cuptaiu Colbeck will not risk detention in the ice, but will make for Lyttelton und await instructions.
