OUR DEFENCE FORCES.
The Veterans' Home Fund Committee has declined to accept an offer by tin* Wellington Non-Commissioned Otliceis" Club to give an entertainment 'in aid of the fund. ( The committee says unit the non-commissioned officers' time will be so ' fully taken up with their military duties that they will be unable to prcpnie an entertainment, but it points out i hat volunteer* oan help tho fund by attending the benefit performance to be given by the Pollard Opera Company. A mouth ftgo the Defence Department assured .us that the prizes won at the Trentham Meeting on 3rd June would bu paid" in a few days, but not a penny has yet been received by the men who are entitled to it.
